Santiago Ydáñez

Santiago Ydáñez (Jaén 1967), studied Fine Arts at the University of Granada and attended workshops with Juan Genovés and Mitsuo Miura, among others. He lives and works between Berlin and Jaén. He has exhibited at many museums and institutions, namely: CAC (Málaga), Villa di Livia (Rome), Whitebox Art Center (Beijing), Museo Lázaro Galdiano (Madrid), Dillon Gallery (New York), CAAM (Gran Canaria), Invaliden1 Galerie (Berlin), Fundación Chirivella Soriano (Valencia), Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Berlin), Antigua Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús (Caravaca de la Cruz, Murcia), Galleri s.e (Bergen, Norway), Instituto de la Cultura y de las Artes de Sevilla (Seville), Instituto Cervantes (Palermo, Italy), Goethe Institut, Instituto Cervantes (Stockholm), Fundación Canaria para el Desarrollo de la Pintura (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), BASF Kulturhaus (Schwarzheide, Germany), Ge Galería (Monterrey, Mexico) and Galerie Martin Mertens (Berlin), among others. Currently, he is one of the most internationally renowned young Spanish painters. His awards include the Premio de Pintura ABC and the Caja Madrid’s Premio de Pintura Generación (both 2002), the Colegio de España en París Grant (2001), the Fundación Marcelino Botín Grant (1998), the Academia de España en Roma Grant (2016) and the 33rd Premio de Pintura BMW (2018).
